30 Day Gratitude Challenge

March 1st, 2010

Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are” – Marianne Williamson.

Gratitude is something as a society we are not really taught to focus on.  Sure we send thank you cards when we get gifts but I am talking about something much more.  We are built to inherently focus on the negative things going on around us; for example, the economy, health issues like cancer, drugs, crime, politics, etc.  We then take that forward to our own life and look at all our failures, lack of money, debt load, lack of job or a job we hate, bad health, or just plain old unhappiness.

I want to help you change that focus.  We gain no peace by focusing on what we don’t have but we think we should.  So, why do we focus on that?  I think we were trained that way by many different inputs through our life.  BUT we don’t have to keep it going now.

Let’s make a conscious choice to change the way we think and only focus on the positive side.  We will only focus on things we WANT in our lives.  The best way to begin to do this is to think about all the things we appreciate.  What is going on in our life that we are so thankful for?  What is in our life right now that we don’t want to leave?

Here is your 30 day challenge – find a piece of paper and write a list of 10 things that you have in your life that you are grateful for!  Do this for 30 days.  I guarantee you that by the end of the 30 days you will begin to have a different outlook on your life.  You will see how lucky you are and won’t think this world is in the dump.  Let the brainwashing begin!

Step 4 Time to Commit to Change Your Life & Your Habits

November 11th, 2009

iStock_000007473334Small mindRemember we are in the midst of building our self image!  We have unloaded our past and sent it away for good over the past couple weeks of blogs!  Now we are filling the gap this left.  We started a gratitude list or journal the other day.  Keep it going!  It will feel great!

Okay don’t think we are done because we aren’t.  It really takes some time to change our habitual way of thinking doesn’t it?  Researchers say it takes 21 days to break a habit.  Well, we have not reached 21 days yet.  This is a commitment that we have to make.  How much do we want to keep the same old life?  Many people say yes because it is comfortable.  But really how bad do we want more money?  How bad do we want better relationships?  How bad do we want to raise amazing kids?  Well, we are going for long term pleasure not short term fixes!  Would we be willing to do what it takes to change our life if it meant more money, happier families, better relationships, perfect weight, and better health?  I bet we all say yes!  Where do we want to be this time next year?  We can be in the same place or we can be in a much, much better place!  I choose better!  Are we committed to being in a better place?  YES?  Then let’s start defining what this better place looks and feels like.  Begin working on this.  I will check in with you in a couple days!

Step 3 Self Image Improves By a Little Brainwashing!

November 9th, 2009

i luv meFor the last week or two we have been working on unloading anything from our past that has been holding us back from our potential.  We are improving our self image so we can find out what our true potential is.  We need to get the black clouds out of the way.  If we had anger, hurts, resentment, pain, whatever it is we unloaded it and let it go!  Okay so we did it!  Yeah!  But now what?  What do we do now?  Well there is this gap where all this pain sat.  When we let go of something that has been controlling our lives (for some of us all our lives) if we don’t fill that gap with something new then the old creeps back in again – not only the old but the comfortable, the habit.  Yuk we do not want that again!

So we want to consciously fill this gap.  We need to control what goes in it or other things will take over.  So time to make another list.  Sorry yes another list.  Make a gratitude list.  What are the things we have in our life that we are SO grateful for?  Who is in our life that we are thankful for?  Get them all down on paper.  Do this everyday.  We need to begin focusing our thoughts on things we are happy for and not mad about.  We have to retrain the brain how to think now.  It is like brainwashing ourselves.  Let the brainwashing process begin!

P.S. Watch the other people around you as you build your confidence.  As you begin improving the way you feel, think and treat yourself – you will see others do it to you AND themselves!
